Melbourne Airport – a world class facility and ideal operating environment for airlines to build their Australian operation
Melbourne Airport provides a world-class, 24-hour per day curfew-free gateway to Melbourne and South-Eastern Australia, serving almost 25 million passengers per annum (5.6 international and 20.6 million domestic passengers).
Melbourne offers its airlines significant operational benefits, cost advantages and outstanding customer service. Amongst the many benefits, Melbourne offers a single terminal precinct for domestic and international passengers, a strong domestic network and excellent access from major and regional highways with only a 20-minute journey to the Melbourne CBD.
Melbourne also boasts the lowest cost base of any major airport in Australia. Sydney and Brisbane’s passenger charges are 52% and 63% more expensive. Melbourne Airport’s charges are also locked in until 2012.
Melbourne Airport continues to invest in significant capital works projects to cater for the rapidly growing market and deliver future capacity for growth. Stage one of the airport’s $330m international terminal expansion was completed at the end of 2009 providing passengers a world-class facility and more A380 compatible boarding gates.
