As the folk music in Turkey differs from region to region, Anatolian Sun Quartet have chosen the best songs of the different regions as well as Turkish folk music from areas outside of Turkey where Turks live including Azerbaijan, Western Thrace, Northern Iraq, Cyprus, etc.

Anatolian Sun Quartet was formed in 2003 at Abant Izzet Baysal University in Turkey. They have performed in Turkey and abroad in countries like Jordan, Syria, Macedonia, Malaysia, Pakistan and Hungary and are highly regarded and well liked for their interpretation of the Turkish folk music. This group combines universal instrumental techniques and authentic values of modern arrangements with local expressions by a touch of gentle harmony.

Anatolian Sun Quartet is made up of six highly virtuosi members including: Kemal Bilsel Sarısözen (An Expert of Turkish Folk Music) playing Baglama, Ugur Alpagut – violin, Kaya Güç – piano, Fatih Erenler – ney (Reed Flute) and sitar, Riza Akyürek – percussion and Omer Turkmenoglu is the tenor.

This Quartet reflects a broad spectrum of Turkish society in their attention to quality and tradition in the musical realm so that the audience will enjoy the Quartet’s unique musical tastes in their performance through their fusion of Turkish and Western musical instruments.
